webasto ac

Post by 2012 »

YES! seeing the conversions to btu's, the webastos have PLENTY of power. now i just need to know a cost for each.

it just looks like webastos are the best option for btu's as well as ease of installation. doesn't it?

Simple answer
CC4E is $4500 ex works.
The others are POA due to the 8 to 12 weeks lead time and the shaky exchange rate of the US Dollar versus the "ever resilient" Euro, (in spite of US financial pundits forecasting its immenent fall due to high unemployment rates in the EEC etc blah blah!

dennis - could you please decipher this for me? "$4500 ex works"

also: "POA".

ALSO, do you have any other ideas for ac that work and might be cheaper? i've come around to possibly being willing to install a gennie. on that, do you have any experience with gennies in pinzies?

Ex works
A term for "out of the door" from the supplier subject to additional fees such as taxes, freight, and other add on costs.

POA:- Price on application.
Used in this sense to offer something that is subject to constant change.
In this case other than the CC4E the items have to come from Germany where there is an 8 to 12 week lead time to receive it.
Due to the fact that the US Dollar is weak on the international exchange scene the US div of Webasto won't fix a price until a deposit is received.
(Anglo Saxon Law:- Offorer, Offeree and acceptance basis of a simple contract etc). At that stage a price can be fixed taking into account the exchange rate prevailing on the day of the contract, the fuel surcharges and freight etc applicable.

There are a number of places you could mount a compressor, the Onan is an economical unit, but there are others. I personally am not fond of Onan since the distributers in the RM region are Cummins Rocky Mountain. Their service dept is like talking to Crown Hill Cemetaries Mortuary department. They are all brain dead in short. Service support for the unit is very limited I would try Honda-- Now I'm talking. (or now you are talking.) Great service enthusiastic people---- Abit like me I suppose.

As I started this topic I will give you'all my thoughts,as I'm a big spender I will give you my 10 cents worth... I did the gen-set and a RV roof a/c on my 710K,you will get what you pay for...I opted for a 3000is Honda, elect start-very quiet. Other gen-sets are cheaper(as much as 1/4 the price) but the noise factor was a real concern to me. I built a compartment, added forced air cooling, with the roof unit it kicked butt,,quiet, you could actually sleep inside with gen-set running! 8) 8) The nagging thought was that I had an engine with it's own fuel supply running in the rear, and this was a concern when getting"frisky" off road. See SWPA Crown King run photos.  I like the idea of a 24v a/c but I don't believe the electrical system will handle it "comfortably" without adding another alternator. In 2 days my engine driven A/C system will be plumbed.I think this will be super for those slow-bumpy-tippy times that we use our trucks for that also lack air flow. :x The pulley situation was handled for well under a C-Note! More 2 come,TTFN Mark

To give credit where credit is due (at least in AZ) I bought my Red Dot A/C from Cummins Rocky Mtn in Phx,best price in the state and they were very helpful. Mark

You are correct.
An additional alternator is required to bolster the output of the charging system if it is to stand alone without gen set operation.

The start up draw of the CC4E is in the order of 58amps. Too high for the std alternator output, it dictates the use of an additional unit sited where the a/c compressor unit would be located in a normal application.

As a foot note on dealerships. Remember the maxim, "they are only as good as the personnel that work within them".

I used a Primepact 50 g

http://www.northerntool.com/webapp/wcs/ ... _200028324

and pulled from the main tank as a fuel source [just like the Eberspacher heater]

Added one of these for noise and spark arresting

wow.... glad i'm not paying yall by the word. awesome free nfo - thank-you all!

question: is this "Primepact 50 g" as nice as a honda? gennie-using ppl keep telling me honda is the only way.

and can't you run a honda off the pinz fuel tank?

i'm definitely looking fwd to knowing how mark's setup works out and if it's reasonable in all ways.

i'm still sold on the 24 volt setup, so far, but it's hard to evaluate it all not knowing anything about the cost of the 2 larger units. maybe they're too heavy, anyway.

Mark,

... Nothing like the feeling of completing a project like that, eh? :D Congrats!
I'd love to see some pics of the completed job if you have them posted somewhere.

A bit off-topic, I checked out the Crown King photos... Ouch!
