This area is prone to leakage due to the thin paper gasket that seals the timing cover to the block. The rear main seal has been seen to leak from time to time but for the mostpart its the gasket. Just make sure its not the cooler assy or oil filter leaking and oil is rolling down the engine.

Not a bad job to tackle but buy a genuine gasket and just before installation fill the bag with warm water it comes in to soften it up. Use shellac style sealant on the faces, apply the gasket wet onto the "daubings" then apply more sealant. Install the timing case without buggering up the rear main seal. Secure the bolts, then fit the flywheel clutch and trans.

Dennis, whenever you are planning to go to fix Alex's truck, just stop in Dallas, rebuilt my engine, and then I'll join you on that trip. Hee hee.
