I'm still working on this one without a whole lot of luck. The carbs didn't make as much of a difference as I thought. I swapped them back to their original vehicles when prepping the green for sale and the difference was very slight if any. I think it's simply a difference in how they are adjusted. Guess I psyched myself out on that one.

I'm avoiding disassembly of the distributor though I think that's next. Has anone had luck with simply lubricating the internals with something via popping the top off and spraying it in? What lubricant should I use?

I just got my distributor rebuilt by Advanced Distributors in Shakopee, MN. Rebuild solved all of my timing and rev problems. I'd give them a try. Their number is (612) 804-5543.

What was the cost?

$200, and it looks and runs like new. They specialize in Bosch distributors, but I was worried that a Pinz distributor was far out of their experience. However, they told me upon receipt that it was nearly identical to a Porsche distributor and would not be a problem. I've been pleased with the results.

Did they re-curve the distributor, or set it to factory specs?

I sent them the factory power curve, but I opted for a little more torque.
