That is something to admire. I especially like the opening windscreen glass on the drivers side.
It would be good to have split front glass on the pinz to have that feature incorporated.

Morris,the real cool thing is when it's open,going 50mph you can adjust airflow by means of the door windows. It's really odd when it's open and no air comes in until you open a side window!

That would be a very nice Pinz add-on.

Noticed in my parts catalogue that there is a split screen shown but, it notes that it is not for these models. Whatever that means.
I have seen a pic of one before but can not remember where.

Guys where's your sense of adventure. Sure things can go wrong and there's no point in being dangerous or illegal, but this is just a road trip in an old truck that's normal for a Volvo 303/Tgb or Pinz owner.

I would pack comprehensive tool kit including socket set (metric) filter wrench, tyre pressure gauge and a foot pump. Funnels and siphon hose, solder iron, duct tape and zip ties.

Have some spare oil and water (those things have radiators!)

Take your time, drive at day, have a buddy in another vehicle.... have lots of fun and tell us how you get on.

I guess the very worst case scenario is it breaks and you have to leave it somewhere while you figure how to get it picked up... not the end of the world!

I remember when I took the Pinzgauer round Iceland, many said it was crazy, but hey, what an adventure, I'd do it again any day!

Michael I was thinking the very same thing and was going to suggest it....Donnie I am on your route back upstate if you are taking route 87 north I could provide support from jersey to close to albany but only if it is a weekend that you are planning this recovery PM me if interested Donnie!

I can maybe cover you in down state NY, and then there's someone in the Catskills, plus I'd probably be in Albany testing that day so your route is good. BTW my daughter is in New Paltz as well. In reality, I imagine you'll be just fine judging from the condition in the pictures.

When I got my pinz from EI, I drove it from the bay area in San Francisco to San Diego with no issues other than the brake lights were yellow
and some dumb a** nearly smashed into me from behind in Carmel. Otherwise, the trip was fine and all I had were the tools in the OEM kit.
Wouldn't have done much good anyway as I knew virtually nothing about pinzies at that time. Still on a very steep learning curve.

I'm pretty sure we'll be ok, but having contacts along the way is a great idea! PM me with your first name, cell number, and the area you can cover.

The boat is due in port of Newark on the 7th. I have to wait for customs clearance so I can register it up here before leaving. So maybe we're looking at the 8th through the 10th, or the week after to drive down and get it. Sorry, gotta do it on a week day, I don't think they're open weekends.

The dealer, Joacim Halling at Coatex AB, and his mechanic Goran, have gone through it with a fine tooth comb. Because of our situation with terminal brain cancer, they have replaced many parts and tested it extensively. Goran is a Tgb mechanic at the local Swedish army base, so I'm sure of it's abilities. I think it'll be a fun trip.

I think the only resemblance is the chrome Volvo letters!
