yes, sir you can. I have the yellow stripe TD coils in the front of the Warn Pinz and they work awesome.

Taking the truck camping this afternoon, may air down and see how she goes.

Cheers
What do they do for Pinz ?
Stiffer, lift (by how much) etc ???
Thx

Lift? Only from them being stiffer, no real lift to speak of.

Here is a picture from only a few months after the yellow coils went in....

You can see it has reverse stink bug going on. IE, a bit higher in the front. That was a long time ago and they have since settled nicely as you can see by the current pictures, not higher in the front anymore. So really the only advantage is stiffer. When I got this truck way back when the front coils were fairly shot. The truck sagged in the front but worse than that it would bottom out under big compression of the front suspension. With the added weight of the exo-bar, a winch (if I had one!) and so forth the TD coils are just right. I have driven the truck hard lately and had some big compression's on the front suspension. It hasn't bottomed out yet. So this is what I mean by the TD coils are awesome.

I went out yesterday in the Warn Pinz for some camping and off-roading with a buddy. I did about 200ks total in the truck. We ran some gravel/dirt roads in the truck late at night at high speed, high speed being 50mph. Honestly, the truck wanted to go faster but 5th gear is all it has! The truck is so fun doing this kind of driving. It handles so well. I was also able to fit down a trail my buddies LandCruiser could not fit down. :) A narrow gap through some trees I only cleared by say 1" on each side, off-camber a bit too!

So after a couple of good runs in the truck now I have some repairs. The rear most axle boots are cracked after last nights run. They are old and stiff and it appears cracked from just a lot of cycling of the suspension. I read a long time ago something I recall being stated by the factory about the split boots only being for field repairs. Ever since then I am not a fan of the split boots at all. Going to buy some new one-piece boots and see if Scott @ EI has the tool to rent to separate the axle. The truck also had a small t-case input seal leak since when I picked it up a few weeks ago. It has gotten worse with use and now needs to be replaced. The oil pan is also weeping more now so that has moved up my list of repairs too. Also a decent leak on the trans shifter input so picking up that seal while I am at it too. I ordered up a new oil filter last week so it is now looking like I will be spending the next few weekends working on the truck rather than using it. No surprise there, it is 38yrs old and had a few issues I knew about when I bought it, now it has a few more!

All in all, a good fun weekend with the Pinz! Oh and the truck gets more attention everywhere I go in it than any other truck I have owned, including a number of non-US trucks I imported. :)

Stephan at SoCal put in supposedly TD springs in my truck; I'm not sure exactly what springs were installed, but they really did the trick and stopped the bottoming out that I was having. Here is a before and after picture. Like Nomad, they have since settled in very nicely. I don't have quite the toe in that is shown in the after photo, but it's been 8 years:

I'll have a look. EI sells new stock springs for ~350 each, so this would be a cheaper alternative.

And you have since added quite a bit of extra metal to the truck as well.

Ya I would hesitate if you don't have weight on the front and or don't drive it hard. Likely to stiff for say a stock 710M.

Ordered a bunch of parts last night. One piece boots, axle o-rings, trans shifter seals and gasket, t-case input seal, oil pan gasket, trans shifter rebuild parts, some window channel, everything to rebuild the fuel pump and everything to fix the full fuel tank leak issue. Next few weekends will be spent fixing things and then I am planning on a few longer trips out in the Pinz.

Got all my parts yesterday. Already fixed the busted door stop on passenger side. Helping a buddy trailer his 86 Toyota to the machine shop today in Idaho (I live in Wyoming). Never heard back from Scott at EI on tool rental so planning to hit up Harbor Freight while in Idaho and pick up a hydraulic ram kit used by body repair shops. Will use that to separate the axles that need boot replacement. Also not sure how I feel about the new black one-piece boots, the old yellow ones seem better but I haven't made up my mind on that 100% yet. Any ways, hoping to get some wrench time on the Warn Pinz this weekend.

Got some things done today. What took the longest was de-greasing the engine. What I got done was;

-de-grease/clean & rebuilt fuel pump with NOS rebuild kit. I put in a few other parts not found in the rebuild kit too. New NOS fuel filter also installed.
-de-grease top on bottom of engine, not fun!
-drained engine oil and pulled oil pan. Cleaned up oil pan, sanded it and painted it with Rust Bullet. New oil filter installed.
-drain and fill all three diffs & t-case. All of it was relatively clean which I was happy to see.
-cleaned the air filter, it is like new but I blew it out anyways.

Pictures!

I should have took a "before" picture of this, it was absolutely a mess.

yes it has a small dent in it...

I installed new window channel on the LHS and the results are simply killer. No more window rattle! I am so happy with it I am ordering more and doing the RHS.

I work like 50+hrs a week and am still making time for the Pinz!

I never half-arse something on a truck when I work on it. Back when I had this truck before I did only minor work to it, the clutch being the biggest repair I performed. Other work was performed by somebody I won't mention. These days I am much more mechanically inclined, have owned a bunch of trucks since I last had the Warn Pinz. I have also learned to fabricate and weld plus have these tools and much more nowdays. Any ways, the Pinz is a lot of fun to work on, yes I said that! I enjoy working on trucks, to me it is fun. The first two weekends I had the truck I ran it hard, real hard. All I did was check the engine oil before hand! Kind of dumb I know but now that I have drained the fluids I know it was A-Ok and in good order. Also knowing the condition of the truck when I sold it helped my confidence along with knowing how little it had been used and what kind of use it had seen. So my ignorance was at least educated ignorance! Any ways, running the truck hard showed where it needs some love and love it is receiving! When I got this truck back in 2003 it had been neglected for some time. There was even bailing twine wrapped around one axle when I first got the truck and mud/dirt on it from at least 2-3 countries. I simply hate having a truck with a filthy chassis, to me it is unacceptable. I fixed that up a lot last time I owned this truck but am doing it more this time around too, detailing it so to speak. While it runs really well I am still seeing some of that neglect even after all the repairs I did to it last time I owned it. Any ways, case in point, when I work on it or any truck, I take my time and not just fix things but re-furbish them. I also can't stand rust, it bugs me a lot.

So I just finished up my engine/oil pan re-furbish this evening. I de-greased the block, albeit not the LHS as I couldn't access it to well. Years and years of oil was removed from the top of the block and RHS and all around the oil pan. Obviously it had leaked in the past around the fuel pump, the pump had a 1/2" or more of oil on it and a ton of silicone around the base not to mention heavy old thick nasty oil all around it. Plus the normal oil from changing the filter was just thick and nasty on the RHS of the block. It looks really good now and I am happy with it plus I can now tell where any leaks might be coming from. The pan is in and I am real happy with it. Will take a picture tomorrow and post it. Keeping my fingers crossed my oil pan weeping is a thing of the past! So for now, crossing this off my list of to-do's. As I think I mentioned before, the truck is off the road while I perform these repairs. So I have a lot of anticipation building for soon when I put it back on the road.

Next up ~ drop the fuel tanks and re-furbish them. I hate leaking gas when I want to fill it to the rim or when off-road. So time to put a stop to this.

Oh ya and I recently pressure washed all the seats and then let them dry in front of a fan for a week. Some of the back ones were so filthy it was a :( moment. Pretty sure at least two rear seats were soaked in gas and at least one other one with stinky old beer. They look fantastic now for 20yr old seats!
