Yeah, that's how it starts.

I took the advice above, thanks!... Ray is making my top now, and I ordered a set of Treadwrights today. I'll post pics when it's all installed!

What color and options did you go for with the new top!?!?

I went with a tan, insulated top (OD green was 10% more).

Only thing I would change on my top would be to have Ray make the rear window like the sides, ie: removable with Velcro. The rear gets more wear and tear than the sides, wiped more, rolled up more etc... It would be nice to be able to replace it without having to take off the whole top. Especially under my cage!

I like the OD green vehicle with the tan top - looks good
Were there any options regarding the windows like screen vs poly etc?
Just thinking about getting one myself and the more we all know the better
Thanks,

I just got my local upholstery woman to make a replacement. She had LOTS of patience. We even decided to make a few mods to the next one to keep it under $1600.
Ill get better pics once I get all the shock cord trimmed up and such.

Like I said - OD and Tan look good together
That top is nice esp for that price point!

Thanks for the input. I just emailed Ray. It might be too late, if he's already made the rear flap, but it sounds like a great idea!

Thanks,
There aren't any options listed on his website, but I imagine that Ray can do anything you ask. He also sent out a bunch of fabric samples beforehand.

Might be an option to install a huge zipper at the top of the panel to actually remove the rear panel rather than rolling it up.
Had that on a Mog cover and it worked very well.

I think that would be a brilliant idea, Morris! Wouldn't it be nice to be able to zip off your insulated rear in the summer, and zip on a large screen?
I spoke at length with Ray about zippers, he didn't like their ability to handle stresses, seemed to be a weak point in the tops. Don't know what he would say about one in that location.
I needed an extra zipper on the rear of my quarter panels due to the cage. They have held up very well so far.

If the zipper went up the left over the top and down the right side with a flap to go over it like on a coat that has a wind flap? Velcro maybe or snaps
every foot or so. The flap stays on the removable rear piece so it is not 'flapping' in the wind if the back panel is removed. Jeeps have them although
I can see there may be an issue if the whole top is already made up.
Those big YKK zippers are very strong. I bought one that is about 6 feet long to make something years ago, never made it up as my industrial sewing
machine died and another one costs about $2000...more than a new top.
Hope you can get what you want...throw enough money at a project and anything can happen.
Happy trails

I had made plans to zip up the rear panel as well as zip up the sides. I would still run a shock cord through the back of the side pieces to keep the canvas taught when the rear got rolled up.
