One of our club members gave me a great bit of advice:

Keep your recovery gear accessible from the outside of the truck, where it can be gotten to even if you're laying on your side. It's totally useless if you can't get to it

So now, I keep my gear up top on the roof rack.

As a relative newbie to the Pinz ('78 710M), I'm curious about about your fuel situation when hard over on the passenger side. Did you see any fuel loss from the filler neck? Without protective racking like Andre offers, could the tank be seriously damaged when hard over on the side? The rub rails don't seem nearly thick enough to hold the vehicle much off its side entirely.

Oddly enough, when I went 90° over on the driver's side, there was some seeping of gas at the filler neck
