Thanks for the opinion Jimm, I don't do much loaded, in fact bar the shopping I don't carry much in the Pinz at all......the pinz is just a fun truck, the Unimog carries anything that is heavy or bulky. I'm glad I don't have to worry about it straight away........I don't feel the Pinz bottom out even on fast humps.....in fact the pinz really has such a comfortable ride, there is a drop off tarmac onto a gravel/dirt road around here that we always take at 40MPH...in the UAZ 469 that drop is a real THUMP!! crash bang!!!...with the pinz hardly a noise......I watch passengers bracing themselves and then the look of amazement as we just waft over the humps and bumps ahead. I am hoping someone will give a closeup shot of their front springs so I can compare. I did a search but cannot see any pic of front springs with weight on them.

He has a diesel conversion so the front end is heavier than stock

Heavier than stock!!! I'll say, but to be honest, The Pinzmeister did a superb job with this engine...it may be one of the heaviest of the bunch, but it has no electronics, no turbo and is well known as an unkillable engine, it may seem gutless on hills but it was designed for abuse and can be revved, if you don't mind that odd scream that a 5 cyl diesel makes when spinning fast!!!! Anyone have pics of the springs on the front of their pinz so I can compare???

not trying to be rude - A diesel with no low end grunt? Why do it?

Hmmm, perhaps gutless was a badly thought out word........It has plenty of low end grunt, you just have to pick the right gear and be brave enough to let it lug down to its happy place and it will then keep on grinding forward......I,ve never managed to stall it!!!! it will hit a place where it can go no further forward and all the wheels will just spin, even very slowly. In actual fact I suspect that having also used the sprinter gearbox goes against me....it is after all a road box with a huge gap between the third gear and the fourth (I think mine is set up with 1st as a crawler, instead of as a fifth overdrive) 1st is a dog leg behind reverse, which is on the far left of the gate, it is still not as low geared as a Landrover, especially in low range, but it has not failed me on the hills around here.....wooded steep sided valleys everywhere. It is just on some of the long climbs that I wish for a turbo, or a better thought out 6 speed box. (I have become quite adept at using the low range as a splitter on some of the hills)

Was mucking about with the truck this morning. Here are some pics of my 710m's front springs with a tape fro reference. Hope they may be of some help.

Thanks Clive......mine don't look so different to yours.......my bump stops are a little closer to the bottom.......I,ll persevere a bit longer before I think about doing anything drastic like changing them for stronger longer springs.
