I've seen/used winches of that size that mounted conventionally and with no front holes. I wonder if those were somewhat cosmetic or there for some other reason that had to do with that application only? As you know the sheer strength of the main bottom mounting bolts is what they all rely on and is over what you could exert with that system.
Another reason I mention getting rid of that window piece is, in practical use, winch ropes will end up getting bunched and stacked up at some point (usually when you are stuck badly and forced to pull at a poor angle) and that piece provides just another place to cut and add to the binding.

Beautiful welds! I would put a clear powder coat on it just to show it off.

Back from powder-coat and loaded with 75' of 7/16" synthetic line. I retained the original military swivel hook.

That looks great if I didn't already have a winch bumper I would be trying to get you to make one of these for me!!!! Just like the overdrive kit!!!

Looks great! Just wondering about airflow issues? I don't have a winch, but I think I'd do something similar but lower for the airflow and a straighter pull to the chassis. Does anyone have known cooling issues due to winch installation?

I have a winch located just about there and have no issue with airflow. The winch is a bit farther away from the grille as the bumper helps to keep it away from the grille. Got the bumper from EI several years ago and there is room to reach the pin, had to cut off the piece that keeps it from being removed unless it is turned 90 degrees. Mine now pulls straight up to allow me to use it to act as a tow point and to fasten the winch line hook.

My EI Bumper/winch is mounted in the same spot should be plenty of airflow as it doesn't completely block the front so it just pulls it in through the sides.

So far, there has been no difference in head temp reading with the winch mounted. It generally runs between 340 and 360 F depending on grade and air conditioning.

Sure, send me a PM and I'll send out the packet of files in a Zip file.

Hey - just noticed this picture - what tires are those on your Pinz?

Those are Duratracs, great tires. I've run them on lots of vehicles in lots of terrain for Search and Rescue with great results. I have them on my Ford Raptor and my sons Nissan Frontier currently and love them. Lightweight, low-cost, snowflake rated, great all-around tires.
