I do not have the power steering unit website I used to have it i will get it again.
Thanks for that information - if you are later able to provide a link or advice on the actual power steering unit I would appreciate it.
Cheers
Garry

On researching further what you have installed is a servo which as I understand regulates the amount of fluid that goes to a ram or power steering unit depending on the arrangement. But from reading your post I take it that you are using the servo as the power steering unit.
Is that correct or have a I missed something.
Sorry to ask so many questions but I have been looking for a solution for my vehicle for a while and this looks like it might be it.
Thanks
Garry

Hi Garry,
Or you could try these...

Not sure how you would go with engineering approvals when cutting up a column and inserting a powersteering servo.
Good luck.

Ok so have a few spare days after breaking down in the jungle about 20 days ago and had to wait 2 days for parts and got back to work on the wednesday so immediately went on 2 weeks compulsory leave due to our leave policy.
Today popped up to work on the Volvo before its stripped.
Cut out the 12mm round bar for the tie down points and some loops have 3-4 to cut out tomorrow and then we will weld them in. 13 done 3 to go in the morning.
Last item to do is to fit the step release whichis inside the cabin where yellow line is where the internal step release will be placed tomorrow.
Details - side bars all fitted now can remove panels and have it 1/2 opened at the rear or completely paneled up. Front two uprights on the bull bar fitted. New rollcage rules might make my external cage legal here now
Tool box in the front grill is visible. Some holes to fill the painter will advise how to fill weld or braise or hole sealant.
Top view looks cool only exhaust exit bit to do.
Seats all sitting in place nothing to do except bolt down.
37" Trepadors are going to cause an issue we need to fit them tomorrow and look at the offset they are going to touch the front guards.
KInda happy - more reporting later on Friday.

I'd take it easy when you drive that thing later on. Extra power with the extra tire size/weight, plus extra truck weight, is going to push those axles/hubs to the limit.
Are you going to keep the outer seat bottom/bolster stock? It makes it a real bitch to get in and out of. I tested this once myself and went with another seat because of the limited room and height you are dealing with.

If you have any advice on the axles/hubs limits (bearing fixes/upgrades) I would appreciate I do not want to break one of these in the middle of nowhere I just lost 2 days off work as I busted a wheel off my trropy twice and had to get spares driven in and both resuce vehicles broke - story of the trip later.
The seats may get the bolster removed I will try them today again to get in and out of then I can see about getting them fixed before I put it back on the road.

Finished up the top hatch locking tabs. Welded in the tie downs points and finished the fold down steps locking pins.
Then it was the time for the strip. All the bolts are undone 8 to go in the morning to lift the rear out.
The doors have an internal rust issue to be dealt with
Front cage off and the wiring loom stripped and labelled.
All the doors frames etc removed
Side view
Tomorrow the LIFT off.

I dont know what you can really do outside of having custom shafts made or at least having everything cryo-treated and/or shot-peened... or use 35's instead of 37's but I understand you have mud issues unlike most of us would ever encounter. Definitely avoid dumping the clutch, ever.
Also you can not beat this CV joint deal for some extra insurance.

Are those doors rusty? That looks like the wax-oil treatment a lot of Volvo's have.

A friend got some custom made portal gears and shafts made in USA I will chase him up.
There is rust it was in a pile in the bottom of the channel. A fist full of rust pieces from isode the door yet there is no visible sign of rust. There was sponge inside the door also a moisture catcher.
The doors are to be split and antirust paint applied.
My style is not to dump the clutch even in COMP I do not dump the clutch.
Thanks for the link for the CV joints I will look at and find a cost.
Except in this vehicle - lol

The gears in the hub were custom made? That sounds very expensive to do correctly.

This very same solution is being used in a 400bhp (at the wheels) 2WD Landrover so we know it works. Yeah the LR is kinda FAST lol.
