License Plate wires on an AMB

Step (2): Behind the driver seat you will find a large electrical plug - unplug it and stow it away in the small door from the AMB box - located close from that plug. Unplug the small banana plug (=license plate light).
Hello Jack,

Thanks for the detailed info on removing the box. To answer your question, the "donut shaped bolts" we call an EYEBOLT. But I have a question for you: My license plate lights have no power, and I am FRUSTRATED with trying to find out why. Since my W box is almost the same as an ambulance, could you please give me more detail as to where the banana plug is? All I found is the power plug from the cab to the back, but no other wires. Does your license plate lights come on only when the lights are on? I've been looking for that little devil for a year now, but never rigged up a framework to hoist the box off to look.

Oh, after I run a tank or two of fuel through the EFI system I'll post my mileage improvements (if any!).

Regards,
Jim

How about some good old fashion camper jacks with some form of quick releases? You could"drop camp" , go playing and not break any dishes. 8) Mark

@2012 - email me your adress so I could mail you a photocopy of the booklet about the AMB box.

@JIMM - that small banana plug goes into the little box where you stow the other larger plug. In fact, the wire comes out from the back of the engine compartment and goes to the box. Quite honestly I am more suspecting that it might have something to do with the revolving blue lights of the AMB box or simply an additional ground wire, as I have quite a lot of electric equipment in my AMB box (dual gasoline heater, including controls, thermostat and switches, + overhead lights, blue revolving lights, ...etc). From experience I know that most of the time the fault lies with the lights not being well grounded as the box is well insulated. The box is only grounded thru the 6 bolts and the 2 guide pins. Do a simple test, run a wire that is well grounded to the lights and see if they work.
YES, mine only light up when the lights are on.
I will shortly have to relocate my license plate as I intend to use the PIN as a flatbed and will have to relocate the license plate lights as well. I'll keep you posted of the problems I might run into.
