What model # did you install? The website (salem) isn't easy to navigate

I don't why I'm seeing this discussion for the first time but this looks like a terrific idea and those various vents all look pretty cheap. I like the door installation idea for what it's worth. I guess a company that works on or sells horse trailers would be a good place to eyeball these in person?

What other sort of company would stock these?

TheCrier - which unit / manufacturer did you go with? Any clearance issues under the dash (master cylinder etc.)? This looks like another one of those no brainer and easy projects ideas to really improve air flow in the cab.

Any other installations that folks want to share photos of?

Thanks. It will help with selecting a size, as Scooter and TheCrier seem to have different dimensions installed.

Very nice and helpful folks at Salem Vent BUT, I picked the wrong size and this apparentkly is their smallest unit. I don't have the size details handy but there's just not enough roon under the dash to install a vent without it interferring with the master cylinder etc. Even on the passenger side, what I purchased will bump up against the glove box.

I was thinking about adding these to the doors as there's room between the door and dash but the lack of a sufficiently large flat surface ruled out that option.

I think what's called for is a vent assembly that's perhaps 5" X 7" or 8" as that will provide a bunch more flexibility on installation options. If anyone has used something that size, posting some photos would be helpful.

These will go on eBay unless one of y'all are interested (I paid like $25/each).

I thought very seriously about installing a vent or two in the outside of the front or even the door but was put off by the size of them.
Much larger than I has hoped. Looked at the old style LR with the vent under the windscreen as a possibility ... no go there either.
That is why it would be so good to have a split screen like the Volvos have.

I gave up on the vent and then found my answer...butterfly vents. They are used mostly on boats at the engine compartment for vents.
Found the size on buycheapr.com under butterfly vents. Various sizes. Put it behind the shift lever for the gear reduction box at the
center inlet to the engine.

What you can't see is the scoop that I made out of sheet alum. to capture the air. Works great and is not really visible. Only put one on
the drivers side cause if it didn't work there was no sense in making two holes. Used the same circular hole cutter that I used to install
the LED tail lights last year.

edit: The scoop is behind the grille and I did not take pics of it. Right now taking the grille off is not on the maintenance schedule. ...but, if you
don't mind waiting a bit I might be getting in there for something.

I was wondering about the butterfly vents after this exercise. That seems like an ideal spot for them. I'd like to see the duct work you built for them Morris.

I'm going to give Morris' approach a try. Will report back with photos and results.

At $85 per side it would may sense only if you really only want them.

Would placing a scoop on the Webesto grill port (behind driver) force enough air in to benefit circulation? Little to no modification is required.

You would have to be going really fast..is that a pinz thing?

I think you'll want to test that location with a mockup to see. The scoop should probably be located in a spot that would pressurize the interior- not de-pressurize it- otherwise you just get exhaust and dust sucked in the back. I've been toying with a scoop in the antenna mount. When I used to smoke cigars and drive, it was always interesting to see the smoke swirl around in a "pocket" along the window, side of the body and behind the mirror.
