I would still think that the ball and socket were stiff and didn't pivot correctly... unlike a body part, that cable wouldn't shrink in the cold

Hey I am not giving up on her.....it was the plan anway..I have her rigged up for the north but in costa rica I will die in there without AC. Be nice in that country to be ablw=e to take the roof off to and get the fresh air.

Dave...the socket was moving pretty easily so maybe it was something else.....I have been running it disconnected for a whole day all over the place and nothing nada....

I will try the cable tomorrow and check the length out and if its not bang on then I will just lengthen it.

If you want a softtop, just remove the hardtop on your K... that's what I did on my 716. Not a tough thing on a 710 and Scott makes tops for them. Even a standard 710M top will fit... just can't use the rear side doors when the top's down. I liked the front facing rear passenger's seats

It's only $400 for a new one:

I rebuilt mine for $150.
Glad it's the cable.

Unless the cable end is bad or frayed, he won't need a cable, just an adjustment

Yes, sorry, rereading I understand now that Jerry meant the transfer case and not the shift cable when he stated $1200 or so for the rebuild.
