pinzinator, I swear I'm not trying to be a smarta$$, but how did you manage to go through 3 in 8 years, or why? I don't disagree with what you said above especially after the money I just shelled out last week to fix the rear springs, to have the carbs rebuilt and to replace the rear boots, by Ultimate 4 X 4 in Houston. They did a really good job for me by the way.

Truck does 60 mph, by gps, easily and still has something left, and runs much much smoother.

I sold my first one, which I purchased in Vegas, to someone who had to have it, and the price was right. The second was a factory restored Austrian Pinzgauer, just like new, which was also featured in Rolling Stone (article is on maybebymonday.com). Once again I sold it for the right price. My third is a Swiss radio truck that I have had for over 4 years. It is in covered storage until the weather cools. I will admit that luck has something to do with reliability, as you never know the past history. When buying a Pinzgauer be sure to check it out thoroughly. Keep your top speed down, high KPH can wear out certain drive line parts, or so I'm told. I baby mine, but still go offroad occasionally.
