So lets continue the trip. Now it gets real interesting. So I get it fixed thanks to Dennis. Paul I think you told me as much as you could in the short time we had together. Call me nuts, but I love a good adventure. They say the best experience is someone elses and then you can learn from it...or NOT.
Also an old cowboy saying...Good judgement comes from experience and experience comes from poor judgement. Not sure where I stand yet.
The guys at Helwig really did a good job getting her ready that's another clue..so it wasn't a bad hose or anything....
So here we go.....
After Dorothy and the rest of the gang saved me from the big bad witch in Kansas (that would be dennis - Mr OZ) it was just a long long long drive.
Side note: - Things you replace in the PINZ..my 2.5 cents worth and it's not much yet especially in Canadian money.
Dennis told me when I was looking for a Pinz and I think there were some others too that said just buy it and run it for awhile before you start doing stuff to it. I now know what you were talking about. \
LIGHTS: The lights that are in it are great.
WINDSHIELD: The winshield seems just fine
HEATER: I am getting the heater replaced, but I was amazed at the heat that I was getting out of it the stock way....now it needs to be a bit more at minus 15 or colder, but I was bundled up coming from My Horeb in the storm and I stayed comfortable if I rubbed my legs a bit. I could have closed up the back too, but heck I was still trying to figure out how all the stuff worked. In the dark it was pretty crazy. Couldn't tell how much fuel I had just a light in the Speedo. So I think I will add some kind of cab light cause I think it would be handy. I used my flashlight so I was ok. Kept it on the heater to keep the batteries warm. Also snow was gathering on the windshield, but I just stopped and cleaned it off.
24-12 converter: Need this to keep the MP3 charged up. It did good for about 8 hours and then went dead so that was good and that would be a good day for a normal SANE person, but I am far from that. I put in a 18 hour shift from KC.
WINCH AND BUMPER and rear hitch adapter: All ready on it looks great. Haven't tried the winch yet..tomorrow maybe do a dry run. The guy I pulled out had a tow rope and I got him out and was in the process of pulling the other guy out, but the state trooper told me to leave it so i would get rear ended. Not used to seeing so much traffic. If you get 50 cars you pass in the winter at that time of night in that kind of a storm in the Yukon you would be lucky.
BACK TO THE TRIP:
The continuing story of a man who has gone to the dogs.....just kidding. Having a blast even at 50 MPH. I was amased at the ride of the Pinz. I thought it would be real rough but it ride better than the old 3/4 ton ford I used to have.
Oh I have to tell you about the headphones. Got them ready added the battery and being a very excitable person I tend not to read instructions....DUH. So I put them on and drive with the MP3 player on and without throughout the trip. Well don't you know..and don't get ahead of the story here ok.
I pull into get gas and I finally had some light. Well I look at them real close. They have a switch on 'em. I pushed it up

a green light came on

. I tried them again..^#^#^%$*%$*%#..can't believe I had driven all that way and never had them on

. I thought they were good before. They are unbelievable when they are ACTUAL ON

STUPID ME..just in a hurry. Slow down and smell the roses right...righhhhhhhhht.
SORRY OFF TRACK AGAIN
Anybody still reading???????
I got here to Denver last night at 2 am. I left KC at 7:30 am...long friggin trip at 50 MPH. 1983 KMS since Mt Horeb......
So I am looking for a place to get something to eat and then a hotel for the night. So I pass one and then I pull a right to go around the block back so 3 rights and I'm there..easy right...well!!!!!
I pass by a cop on the side road just as I turned the corner. He was just parked in a parking spot. So I get to the next corner and turn right..he pulls out behind me with his lights OUT. Thinks he's in stealth mode I guess. Now picture this. It's 2 am in a PINZ. Do you think you get noticed (how many vehicles are on the road). Then I have a yellow flashing light on the back that Paul put on for me for the fog and just as a general safety THANG.
So I take the nest right back to the main road..here he comes and my stomach starts doing back flips. I am pretty punchy and hungry. I have put in a heck of a day so far.
I pull into the diner and he pulls up behind me and blocks me (now don't get ahead of me yet ok..remember this is MY STORY
So on comes the lights. Now being from the YUKON I jump out and start walking towards him. I reach inside my pocket for my WALLET. Now I am from a place where you CAN'T have a handgun period unless you give up your first born and the rights to any lottery winnings in your lifetime.
NOT A GREAT PICTURE BUT HE TOLD ME TO KEEP MY HANDS ON THE WHEEL
He yells from door of the car. Hey mister take your hands out of your pocket slowly and put them up, turn around and place them on the vehicle. Then he comes up and tells me to put me hands behind my head and frisks me (well I am pretty punchy from the drive and I am tired and very hungry). So start laughing cause he tickled me. Not a good thing to do I guess (pretty rough part of town I found out later - hell they have a push button key pad on the washrooms of the resturant.
So he asks for some id and registration etc. Well I reach for the keys and he freaks. Says "keep your hands where I can see them". I told him I need to get the keys so I could open the doors to get the info he wanted.
YES MY PINZ ACTUALLY LOCKS UP BONUS. Then I explained to him that I didn't have perminent stuff yet cause I was driving it home. Well I had to explain everything about the trip even to where I bought it etc.
After about 1/2 hour (probably about 5-10 minutes) he comes and said sorry and I was free to go. I guess there was a Pinz stolen
NOW GET THIS:
He said the it was the same make and model.. The one that got stolen was a 6x6 with a canvas top and double doors on the back.....don't know about you, but mine is not even close to that.
I would have been madder had I known that the vehicle was a 6x6 in the first place, but at the time I thought he would at least have an ACCURATE desciption of the vehicle before pulling me over and giving me a heart attack..NUTS. Now I realize why he took all the precautions cause it's a tough neighbourhood so I will cut him some slack, but do you think I would have a yellow flashing light on a STOLEN vehicle...dunno.
Anyway...my Pinz is at Dennis's shop and I have to get some sleep ok.
Jer Bear - over and out for now. KINGPINZ (Mike Kinsey)- is meeting up with me later and we will see what goes on there.
GREAT TRIP SO FAR..MY KINDA ADVENTURE ........REALLY
