Getting insured in CA

Hello

I’ve been out for about 15 years now and am trying to get back in. I live in California and other than smog issues, the difficulty is getting insurance. Many companies won’t insure a military vehicle. The others require it to be stored in a garage. I don’t want to lie about that because if I get canceled for fraud, I’ll be stuck with an unusable vehicle that others have trouble insuring as well.
I’ve tried Mercury(my current insurer and they covered my 710k), Hagerty, Progressive, State Farm, California Casualty, American Collectors, and I tried some brokers that deal with multiple agencies.
Any ideas?

I just recently re-insured my Pinz, this time with Hagerty. It went very smoothly with no issues. I'm in Wisconsin so it may be different than in California.

Hagerty said in CA, it needs to be kept in a garage.

I looked at older posts about this. I saw American Family and gave them a call. They said they work with Mercury insurance and they won’t insure a Pinzgauer. In fact, they said they won’t insure “hobby vehicles.”

Hagerty and rent a garage, maybe temporarily, somewhere. They will want that address initially....

Since 2001, Auto Club of Southern California has insured Pinzgauer. I have had my 710M., 712M, my Halflinger and 716 with them at one time or another, and willing to insure my 718K.
When talking to an agent, you must tell them that the manufacturer is a Steyr, and the model is a Pinzgauer.
That is how it is in their computers for the agent to find.
Also, unless it has changed, Auto club in California (AAA) is the only AAA club in the US to insure Pinzes.
