Air filter options

Hello
I’ve been taking the “hat” off of the carburetors recently and it seems to me there might be a better option. I’ve seen a large cone filter attached to the “hat” but that still leaves the struggle with the hat.
Has anyone tried putting filters directly on the carbs? I’m sure K&N makes something that would work.
Any experiences out there?

Possibly.
But don't forget these existing components for your new design:
- at the very entrance of the air in your stock build, you will notice a little revolving plate and a tube coming from the heat exchanger. This system is to allow pre-heated air to come into the engine (which is good) but also allow extra fresh air to come in when engine needs it
- The can containing the actual air filter is just not a can, if you look at the cover that you can remove with the 2 clips, it's actually a cyclone designed to remove particles and sand from the incoming air, before they clog the filter.
So connecting an air filter directly to the carbs intake is possible but you would lose these 2 systems above, unless you find a new way to build them in.
What is your objective precisely ?

Hello
I was just looking into ways to simplify carb access. It’s not I priority. Especially considering that it doesn’t come up that often, I’m cheap, and lazy. I was just curious.

K&N has been proven over and over again to pass a lot more dirt than a normal old paper filter. I'd avoid them at least.
