pinz tool box grease gun help

Not much grease was coming out of my grease gun from my tool box today. So I took it apart and cleaned it up. The grease was obviously old as oil was weeping out of the grease. The breather one way valve was stuck open. I cleaned that out. It now shuts off when I blow air through it. The opposite side air valve seems to have a screw in plug. It appears on mine to be missing a handle of some type to screw it. It’s just a stud. I can get it to operate with pliers however. I am guessing this is some sort of pressure release valve. The body plunger seems ok. So how do you load grease into the thing? Pack it in by hand or what? Also what type of grease do you recommend? It’s just for those few fittings on the drive shaft so I don’t think a high temp grease is needed. But I better ask anyways.

I think you have to "hand pack" it. I use grease from Daystar that is super gooey and waterproof. It comes in small tubes so you might be able to push the lube into the gun without much mess.
