alternator????????????

Any one got a lead on a spare or burned out alternator?

Got a friend that owns a auto electric company and he thinks that he can build one up to higher amp output! Also have a friends friend that build race VW engines and alts and will use him for a second opinion if I can get a spare - dont want to pull my alternator off a perfectly good working Pinz - if it aint broke dont fix it right!

Anyone try this before - I searched the forum and didnt get any hits on the search!

Well YES and NO

I have an 80 amp alternator in my 712, but I run a 12 volt system.
Years ago I rebuilt the whole electrical system to run 12 volts.

I originally had the alternator changed from 24 to 12 volts using off the shelf (OTS) Bosch components. then later using similar OTS parts I had it upgraded to 80 amps output.
