need help with ignition trouble shooting

Post by rla001 »

I was hoping that Jurgen or someone else out there could translate the writing on the 4500 rpm controller for me. It has a little schematic with 6 terminals on the label.

1 +15 (I think this is ignition voltage)
2 shows connected to ground
3 Zundsp.
4 Zundspchl.
5 Verbraucher
6 no connection shown internally

bablefish translates Verbraucher as consumer and it connects to the idiot light. idiot/consumer sounds good to me.

Zundsp. and Zundspchl. do not translate I am assuming because the are abbreviated. The "u" have umlauts over them but I am fresh out of umlauts ( I suppose I need to talk to Patrick about that)

My problems are flashing 4500 light, high current (melted wires and connector) coming out of the resistor in the round can with the knurled nut lid.

Thanks for any help

3. Zündspule = Ignition Coil

1. I don't have one if front of me but I think there is a +15 connector on the Ignition coil?

Zündverteiler = Ignition Distributor
Zündkerzen = Ignition Plug
Zündkabel = Ignition Cable
Verteilerkappe = Distributor Cap

Sorry thats all I could figure out, Miles

OK like the doctor says ..."I've got good news and bad news"

The good news is my boss who is married to a German national translated the words for me with some help from some of his German friends,

>So. With a little help from my friends, I think we are close:
>
>3. Zündsp. ---> Zündspule ---> spark coil
>4. Zündspschl. ---> Zündschalter ---> ignition switch
>5. Verbraucher ---> load
>
>..billg"

I had found the short and repaired all the damage

The bad news is on my second test drive some idiot cut me off making a right turn from the left lane across my lane causing me to loose control and dumped the pinz on its drivers side.

16 stitches in my left arm
broken windshield and bent windshield frame
broken mirror and mount
broken door window
doors no longer latch (bent frame or just tweaked body?)
broken rub rail and bent the place where it mounts.
shifted my custom hardtop over about 1/2 inch and bowed the bed sides

Unbelievable!!!!! but all said and done I thank God that I am sitting here and typing with both hands!! As I was cleaning asphalt out of my left ear with a q-tip I realized how bad things could have been.

I'll post links to pictures as soon as my wife posts them for me.

Rich
I am really glad you are up 'n at 'em.

For those of you in different parts of the country I don't know if local news gets out to you. Here in the Denver Metro area there seems to be a propensity for the motoring public to get involved in/cause accidents and then simply drive off or not even bother to stop. The latest outrage is a clown in a pickup truck who mowed down a whole family on a cross walk. Only the dad survived. Luckily (if that's the word) the truck's license plate fell off giving the authorities the evidence they needed to track the idiot down.
Apparently the passenger is being charged with trying to cover up the incidence; Struth isn't there anyone with cajones out there to simply say "now its time to face the music".
There appears to be too much of this taking place in this area not a month goes by without listening to reports of similar instances. I hope the authorities managed to track down the cause of your unfortunate the accident Rich and that all can be mended in time by the other guys insurance company. (If he had any? & there lies the rub, excuse the pun Rich) Very best regards for a speedy recovery

Hi,

I was wondering if any of you has ever tried to get this kind of ignition working on a Pinzgauer (see link here after).
http://www.123ignition.nl/products.php
It seems that lately it did perform quite well on a Mercedes G on the Panamerican rally.
Any idea is greatly appreciated.

Thank you before hand,

Best Regards,

Jacques
