Hydraulic lockers, adding pressure guages

Has anyone added, in line, pressure guages to the hydraulic lockers to visually verify that there is not a failure in the master / slave seals? With the brakes and clutch you can feel if there is a failure but with the lockers there is no physical feedback. I need to find pressure guages that are compatable with brake fluid and has a relief valve for bleeding. Any ideas, or is this a stupid idea?

Well Miles
There is a test kit 'out there" that uses the items you have mentioned and it is fitted into the bleeder screw ports. Once bled out by in gauge ports the operative can measure applied brake pressure. We use this kit mostly for Lux car ABS brake block testing but have used it on both Pinz and Volvo units when we have a brake issue to resolve for a customer.

If you want to spend some bucks I can give you the name of the manufacturer.

Isn't that what the indicator lights are for? I know for a fact that my indicators go out just BEFORE the lockers or font axle disengages. As long as the light stays lit, I know what's engaged.

Jim...I had a problem with the front wheel engagement a while back disengaging. The light would go out but there was still pressure in the line holding it engaged. I had to keep cracking the slave to get it fully released. What I'm looking for is a way to tell if there is a slow bleed off, or over pressure, but I think it may be more trouble than it's worth.

Dennis...I'm not worried about the brakes or clutch, just monitoring the lockers line pressure.

Miles perhaps you didn't get the drift on my last post.
That kit I mentioned has numerous universal adaptors and we have used it to verify locker pressures; one instance found a partially plugged locker line on the rear of a Pinz within minutes insteed of tracing the problem by traditional methods .

Dennis....I was thinking of a set of guages that I could mount in the cab area. I consider the lights the same as a engine light (idiot light) on a modern car, it just doesn't tell the whole story, I like guages. The setup your talking about is it just a tester? If you can Please email me a picture.

Also what is the psi range of the hydraulic lockers when actuated?
