spark plug spacer 0n #4 jug

While changing plugs i noticed #4 had
a spacer after compression ring does anyone know why

Those spacers keep the spark plug from oil fouling.
They are used on cylinders that have high oil consumption

(bad rings or lack of valve seals) .
Leave it off and see if the plug fouls with oil, if it does, start looking into the cause and repair it.
