Crank Start like Halfie?

Hi there,
Was just perusing some Halflinger stuff and saw that one of the parts available is a "hand-crank"... Got me thinking...
For those times when you're way out in the bush (or have your vehicle out in the bush) for a long while in the cold, it'd be cool to have a hand-crank start option just in case.

I know my 710 bump-starts really easily, so I was thinking that a crank wouldn't be out of the question...

Any ideas?

Hmmm .... If you've ever tried hand-crank starting a Haflinger you might think twice about trying it with a Pinny   :D

I had looked at a crank start many, many ( and many) moons ago, but the position of the crank would require a hole through the passenger footwell to have a straight shot for the crank.

Maybe a recoil starter rope on the cardon shaft?

Hey Peter, I have used a hand start on my Haf.... not quite as easy as my old S3 Landie... but I'll let you try it on the 3.5L V8 on the Vampire.

Well I have hand cranked a LR 101 FC, the first time was easy and it started quickly enough but the next time that I tried it the hand crank supplied by Landrover bent into contortions and I had to straiten it out before trying again! :(

The hand crank mounted on many LR101FC is really only an ornament not because of any resistance to turning it over but the fact is the untempered mild steel they are produced from is not up to the job. I have seen a few bent ones at a LR 101 FC club meet quite a few years ago when we all decided to give it a whirl. :P
