light stays on on the time for the front axle, even when not engaged.

If I need a new switch, will the gear oil run out of the xfer case when I remove old one? Gonna test it this weekend, just thinking ahead.

Oil will run out when the switch is pulled. lift 1 front wheel in the air with the 4x4 locker on to verify if axle is locked. If the axle spins while the light is on, then check the switch and connectors under the cover.

Just to clarify, this is the switch for, I guess it would be 6x6 (as opposed to 4x4). I'm assuming this switch is in the transfer case?

I can tell from the way it drives it's not actually engaged...just the light is on.

If you are sure the axle is not engaged, just unplug the pigtail(no tools required) to the switch cover and the light should go out, if it does not there is a short to ground somewhere.

Just to clarify, if it does go out, switch is bad, correct? If I remove switch from TRANSFER CASE, will the oil run out?

Ok, here goes, removal of any locker switch will result in loss of gear oil. The front axle switch is on the T-case locker, sometimes the insulation gets chaffed on the wires under the switch cover. you can use a multi meter to test the switch

Fixed the one that was staying on all the time. Got the rear locker switch that wasn't working to work properly. Just took the covers off cleaned up the leads, and made sure I had good grounds. Does appear that all the switches are seeping a bit. The front one was oily enough I think it was shorting across the leads. I'll wait until I change the lube, and pull them all and replace the o-rings/seals.
