warm restart

When I restart my 710 I have trouble. It isounds like my starter is dragging and there is not enough current to turn it over,
When I start cold, I have no problem. Yesterday I had to have it jumped. The batteries are fine. Do I need to replace my starter????

You will have to do a starter amperage draw test to verify a bad starter, most of the time it is a bad connection /high ground switch resistance, or weak batteries. The starter can be rebushed /repaired if it is faulty

Just to add to the comments by Jim
A starter that performs well when cold and then grinds over when hot can often traced be a short down in the armature windings. We use a machine called a 'Growler" that allows the bench repairer to verify if there is a short present.
If you are a DIYer take the armature to a starter repair shop and have them test it for you.
Should the armature be "shot" replacements are available and we have been know to get rare armatures and stators rewound when necessary.
Its just a reminder to attend to a sluggish starter because allowing it to labor over when there is ample battery power is actually turning the armature into a mini electic fire!
