THE PORTAL HUB - Pinzgauers, Haflingers, Volvo 303s and more!

A number of years ago there was a website on which a British Pub owner had details regarding a 718 Pinzgauer he was restoring.

I seem to remember he had plans to travel around the UK & Europe when the vehicle was finished.
Despite my best "Googling" efforts I can't find any sign of the site and fear it has dissappeared as it was some years ago (I'd guess maybe 5-10 years).
Unfortunately I had a lot less knowledge of the web back in those days and never saved the information or downloaded/saved any of the pics of the vehicle and the restoration, so I'm going totally on memory, which isn't the best anyway!

Does anybody remember the site or have any further details as to what happened to the vehicle etc?

Dale from Haflinger Technik here in Scotland rebuilt a trashed UK MOD TD last year, he must know a thing or two about what a restoration takes, was there anything specific you were wanting to know as I can ask him, or you could email him yourself through his web-site.

Thanks for the offer (I know Dale through a few emails and mutual friends.... and I used to know Peter Ward) but there was nothing specific I wanted to ask.

It's just that I've often wondered if the owner/Publican ever finished the rebuild and whether he still owned the vehicle etc!
I remember the shots of the rebuild were "interesting" and I would have loved to add them to my picture collection (approx 2500 images and still adding to it! ) but I never saved them.

Maybe one day, someone, somewhere will bump into him!

BTW, do you know George? ....He's in your neck of the woods!

I got to know him well when he came to Australia some years ago.
I ended up flying a Scottish flag from my Pinny for a lot of the time he was in it!

Yes I know George he's one of the regulars when the UK Pinz owners have a meet up. This summer what with people having babies and the terrible wet weather it ended up me and George were the only ones to venture out. Here's my truck on the mid summer trip, george's is probably in the mist somewhere!!!

I noticed an Austin Champ in your photo gallery. Are there very many still around? We had one that was imported during the 70's. The rear differential case cracked and it is sitting out in the pasture now. I tried for years to find parts or another champ, but had no luck. It was fun to drive ( right hand ), plus you could shift through all the gears in reverse.

The champ is quite rare, there are a few members of the Scottish Military Vehicle Group who have them, the really rare vehicle is an Austin Gipsy.
