Overhead console

I am thinking of getting an overhead console. I see Tuffy has 3 models. I would like some feedback on them from those of you who have mounted them. Which is best? Are they easy to mount? I see one is 4" thick. Will my head bounce off of it?? I already have a kink in my nick from stop lights.

Are there other options for a console?

I have had the tuffy double unit in mine for some time. I personally like it. I have not hit my head on it when offroading and it is mounted in the middle. Idid fabricate a bracket to go from the unit to the windshield that fits between the visors. The unit now houses a radio,CB, intercom controller and jacks, overhead dual fisheye lights and cabin light along with the gps antenna and xm radio antenna. I like it as I can secure my electronics. Some have complained that the cab is too busy for their likes but hey every one has an opinion.

The unit has worked great for me. The added security for the radio and being able to, with a little silicone, make them shed water off the radios.

I mounted a 8ga piece of sheet metal 12 inches wide. CB and radio bolt to it along with a 12v recept. I used the holes that the visors mount to and put the back part under the roof radio antenna mount. works great and cost me about 5 bucks. I did this before I knew that there were any such items as those professional things.

Robert Crow (www.ultimate4x4.com) here in Houston had made an overhead set up out of aluminum that's pretty cool. Drop him an email and see if he still makes them.

Is he still in operation? I emailed him not to long ago and never heard back.

He's still around but he has closed his shop as he had an opportunity to make more money with a "real" job. I suspect he can still have these fabricated if there's interest.
