My problem has gone from bad to worse. A couple of Sundays ago I was on a ranch and I smilled the smoke genie smell. Shut the truck down and started looking. Couldn't find anything, I started the truck again and we got off the ranch and went home asap. Number 12 didn't pop again.

A couple of days ago I loaded the Pinz with protein, went and got the trailer and loaded it too. I did turn on the lights and # 12 popped. Got the truck parked and checked the headlights today thinking that maybe one of the spare wires that weren't used with the new Hellas had lost the electrical tape. Nope. Checked as much as possible for the wires to and from 12 to see charring or melted plastic, nothing. No contacts touching or anything like that I could see. The light switch looked okay too.

Turning the batteries on, no problem, put the key into the ignition and turn it in preparation of starting and # 12 pops, reset it and it popped again. Pulled the keys and now I'm asking for hints as to where to look first. Any and all ideas will be greatfully accepted. Thanks.

Pull the dash back and look to see if the breaker legs are touching ground(there will be burn marks), then if that is ok, follow the schematic in the GLOVE BOX, it is usually the only one that is accurate. Wire color plays a key in determining which schematic to use.
If the wires are yellow they should go to a headlamp high or low circuit, can't seem to remember without a schematic in front of me, if the wires are red/black, they should go to the hazzard switch and brake lamp circuit.

It's too dark to see right now, but I'm going to guess it will the hazard switch and brake lamp circuit. Now, by brake lamp circuit are you talking about the lamp for the emergency brake or the brakes?

I had the schematic in the glove box blown up to be readable and that's where I got the idea it was headlamps. That and something someone posted here I think about what breaker goes to what circuit. I'll look in the am. Thanks Jim.

PS, I haven't had the emergency brake lamp for awhile. The blinker lamp works when it wants to, you can see the blinkers working at night and hear the relay clicking though so I know they are working. Used contact cleaner today to clean the dirt out of the blinker and high beam switch. Does that info add anything?
