I didn't want to hijack other threads, so I decided to start this one.
Hey you guys in NC (Apex and Durham), where where you all when I lived in Fuquay-Varina a few years ago? I didn't discover Pinzgauers until after I moved into rust country.

I first owned a Pinz in 1999 in TN then moved to NC in 2000. The first was a 710M then a 710K. You should have checked in with a local 4x4 club, and then you would have found me.

Yea, I remember 2000.
I guess I was just busy back then, three kids in high school, overtime at work, and Mom in a nursing home. That all took a toll.
The closest I got to four wheeling was pulling the old Ford Ranger 4x4 out of the mud everytime I let my son use it.
Oh well. With the empty nest it is my turn to have fun.

Well, sorry you chose to move to rust county. I just bought my Pinz in 2005. However, you are welcome to come down and visit any time. I love taking my pinz on the beach. Actually I have reservations to take mine on the ferry to Portsmith Island, near the outer banks in October.
Stay in touch. I can't find any Pinzies now that I have one here either.

Bob,
The beach sounds interesting. I know there are off road trails the other way over in Uwharrie.
I'll be down that way this summer sometime. But, probably without the Pinz
I do have summers free so maybe I should plan to bring it down.

Tim,
Driving on the beach is probably pretty lame to most of the off road guys on this forum. I like it though. Problem Audibon Society is trying to shut us down. I kusually take my pinz to Atalntic Beach area. In October I have reservations to put it on the ferry and take it to Portsmith Island. No roads there, just beach. Great Red Drum fishing. Unfortunately, I work all summer and am off in the fall. Pinz in the sand is a great time.

I came close to buying a Pinz in 2000, but my insurance company (Nationwide) changed their minds about insuring one between the time I drove up to see Vince and the time I was ready to buy one about a year later. I've been out of the forum for the past several years because I was in school working on a master's while also working full time. You gotta sleep at some point...
Who do y'all have insurance with?

Steve,
I have mine insured through State Farm. However, I have it insured as part of a fleet program.

State Farm here too, but I had to fight with my agent to get it done. This was irritating because they had previously insured a 710M, 710K, and a 406 Mog.

Mine is insured with Progressive. Our "normal" cars are insured with Travelrrs but they didn't want to jack with a Pinzgauer. Cheap, no limits on usage...easy.

I have Liberty Mutual.
At first, my agent tried to tell me he could not insure the 712. He went as far as speaking to me only in the Star Wars Wookie language. When he finally took it to the underwriters, they wrote it up in about ten minutes.
Why are agents like this? Don't they make money selling policies?????

I made the mistake of taking my agent out with me for a ride in my 712. I almost had to fight with him to get the keys back. He has all my mil vehicles insured and loves to hit the trails with me. Farmers insurance by the way.
