Well, the site is up and ready for Calico Mogfest '08.
http://mogfest.com/
This year, all the sites have full hookups. If you don't need or want them, you will need to call Calico and make your own reservations. But you still need to register on the signup page.

Early Arrival / Site Assignments?

Dave,

Are you planning on doing site assignments before people arrive? I'm planning on arriving Thursday afternoon so I need to call Calico to reserve a space. I want to be sure I won't need to move once I get set up.

Thanks,

Alan has told me that it will be on a first come basis. But I know of a couple of Moggers that have larger rigs that need special considerations.
I would suggest if you reserve in one of the spaces from B4 and up, you'll be safe. The B sites may be a better group area for the Pinzers. All the sites are still big, but need to be backed into ( unlike the pull through of the A sites).
There are a few other things I'll be talking to Alan about.

At this point, I'd say to stay away from B1 to B3,,, I want to be sure our chef has a prime camp site...... I don't want to be like Joe on the Mog list and have to "brown bag" it

If something goes wrong, I'll deny it and claim "I knoooow nothing"
And anyone that knows me, knows that the truth.......

Dave,

Thanks for the info. I was thinking of staying about mid way up in the B area anyway.

Well, here's the latest that filtered down to me.
They are now reserving camping sites. So, If you have reservation with Calico for Thursday, you need to email Joe or Alan to comfirm your site for the rest of the weekend. Anyone that has signed up and didn't reserve an actual site, email them with your choice or get one assigned.

From Alan on the moglist

List;

Thanks to Joe O' for doing a really cool job putting the map of the
campground on the Registration page at _www.mogfest.com_ (http://www.mogfest.com) . I
have reserved all of sections A and B for Friday and Saturday nights, Oct 3
& 4. If you want to insure that you will get a particular space you will
need to call the campground at 1-800-TO-CALICO between 8am-3pm and reserve your
space for Thursday night, Oct 2. If you pay for a space and you are in it on
Thursday night, it's my thought that takes precedence over someone who did
not reserve the space through the campground but clicked the red X on our web
site. If you show up and someone else's name is on the space (other than
mine) you will need to find another space.

This year they have asked us not to leave our tow rigs in the general
parking area so we have reserved space B19 at the top of the road for parking only.
There should be enough space for all the trailers, etc.

The registration will be $30 per adult this year which will cover Sat & Sun
breakfast and Fri & Sat dinners. Camping fees are $44 for Fri & Sat nights
and all spaces have electric and water. The spaces have gone up to $25 per
night so be prepared to pay $25 if you call to reserve for Thursday.

Once all the pre-reserved spaces are spoken for (and paid) you will need to
make reservations through Calico for additional spaces outside of sections A
and B. I hope this all makes sense!

Please contact Joe directly with questions regarding space reservations at
_joe@poweredbygeek.com_ (mailto:joe@poweredbygeek.com) and while you are at
it give him a pat on the head for doing a great job as our official webmaster!
The event is still five months away so expect plenty of banter between now
and then.

Thanks,
I liked the way it was set up last year. It was nice to have almost all the Pinzi group camped together. Of course, we also managed to stick about half the Pinzi contingent in my space. I have pics of the 6 Pinzi's sharing my spot and Jim L.'s spot. Why? The first night (Thursday) we had 50 MPH winds lifting the tents, so we surrounded them with Pinzi's.

I booked space B9 for Thursday evening and coordinated it with Alan for the rest of the weekend. I see from Alan's list there are Pinzgauer folks in A23, B13, B14, B15, and B16. If we can get Pinzgauers and/or Haflingers in B10 - B12 we'll have sizable area for the Pinz group.

Your money is as good as anyones ( as long as it isn't confederate  )
There have been Moggers and Pinzers from several different states in the past.
Amazingly, this is the earliest that Calico Mogfest dates have been announced, and most sites have already been reserved.
Also, there has been a Margarita Bar in the past. :D

Erik,

Give us a call when your here, I am sure Bernhard and I and possibly even Jim L. can do an impromptu run locally here if you like, we do have a few small hills here in Orange County area up to about 5200 feet or so that is if they are open after last falls fires, Either way we could meet up if you just want to and talk pinz, PM me as your trip gets closer and I shoot you my number....

Just a reminder for those that wait for the last minute to signup, there are only a handful of reserved sites left with the group, and I have no idea what Calico has left otherwise.

A posting from the Moglist
I just talked to Tony the-T-shirt-Pimp Koch and the event shirts are ready
to print. He assures me that these are going to be some MANLY event shirts;
no pastels, no rainbows, just manly Mogs and rough and tumble western
machismo. ARRGHH!

For the last seven years (I think) Tony has designed, printed and sold the
event shirts at MogFest and this year is no different. The shirts are $15
each and are NOT included in the registration fee. The registration funds pay
for the food, Mog Central spaces, the Mogarita bar and any other costs of
putting on the event. Everyone involved is a volunteer and no one makes anything
on the event.

If you didn't note your shirt sizes on the MogFest website when you
registered have no fear; Tony always brings extras and may even have some shirts
available from previous MogFest events.

If anyone is bored and local this weekend I will be heading out Friday night
to scout trails on Saturday. I want to make sure our favorite trails are
still passable so you don't hear the dreaded "I think we all need to turn
around" on the CB.

One week and a wakeup away :D ... at least for those that will be there Thursday
