Hi All

Today I removed the front section of the top tin. I was intending to strip off the tin and get it all powdercoated. When I had removed the tin I found this oil leak. It looks like it is the pushrod seals Alex had a problem with some time ago.



Can anyone confirm that this is the problem?


If it is pushrod seals from what I can gather from Alex's post this is a tricky thing to fix. I was not planning to reuild the top end but if I have to completely disassemble the head I may as well do the bloody lot.

Can anyone tell me if I am doing any harm driving it as it is?

Also can anyone tell me if I can re-build the top end without removing the engine?

Yes, you can refresh the top end without removing the engine.

Am I right in thinking it is the Pushrod Tube Seals? Does that mean this is what I need?

As far as I know, the seals are unique to this engine. You will ned 20 pushrod tube seals and 4 of the oil return tube O-ring seals, 4 intake port gaskets and 4 exhaust pipe gaskets, and 4 valve cover gaskets if needed.

Yes , that is a tube seal leaking. You will also need some Permatex aviation sealant for the cylinder to block surface if you break them loose, and piston size(stamped on the top of the piston ) is needed for rings if you are replacing them.
