Howdy Folks!

I have been lurking for a while, now is the time to come out and introduce myself...

I am a native of the California coastal Redwoods, I now split my time between mile high Arizona and Northwest Baja; a "desert rat" in the making.

I have been working and playing offroad off and on for most my life, have had a 4x4 PU for a number of years in the distant past, some dune buggies, and for the last few years a VW Thing. I try to follow the Baja500 and Baja1000 but am in no way a racer... poco poco for me!

Am a new joiner too - did find a 712AM in Georgia - the country - not the state. A few modifications so far:

1. Designed legs to remove the ambulance box easily;
2. Created ramps to carry my quads;
3. Lots of work left like paint, bumper etc - a fun project for sure.

If I can figure out how to copy / attach a photo I shall.

Am looking forward to "heading to the hills" this weekend.

I got my pinz from texas pinzgauer at the time he had a 6x6 you can contact them @ 210-827-2104 also texaspinzgauer.com ask for Rue. He has been very helpful. One hell of a nice guy.

thanks Shawn, I may buzz over and have a look in a week or two... it turns out there are a few good ones here in the "neighborhood", I am hoping to check a couple out this weekend.

Welcome, nice to see someone else who's into the baja scene and the texas pinzgauer guy is worth a try if your up here has a few pinzgauers all the time it seems and if you can wait will probably be able to get you what you want.

You're going to have plenty of options for finding a clean 712 without having to go way "back east" to Texas to find one. EI has a great reputation as does Thilo in Prescott, AZ and others that folks on the forum can route you to.

Speaking of the forum. may I suggest you begin by making a modest contribution to Vince for maintaining this resource for all of us.

$25 US is probably more than most folks have contributed.

My concern is that one day Vince decides it's not worth it and pulls the plug and THEN everyone jumps up and offered to help chip in money.

Messing with the site, answering dumb questions (some of which I submitted) and dealing with IT "issues" isn't his full time gig so I want to make sure we're making this as low impact on him as possible....

Tbilisi intro.

There are 3 Pinz owners in Tbilisi - 2 have 710's and I have a 712 AMB. We are in the process of getting them operative / painted and plan to enjoy a lot of summer fun. We have unlimited rugged trails all around us and certainly live in a playground of fun.

Have been working on getting my 712 to function as a camper / cargo unit as well as a quad hauler. Loading quads is easy and they do sit tight even in rough terrain.

What is next is to experiment with the right amount of weight in the box so that I can travel "empty" and still have enough weight for traction. The box and quads are both rather top heavy and I think that with weights in the "trough", it will be more stable and easier to handle. Any wisdom on the right amount of weights is appreciated!
