Hi Everybody! New to the board and new to Pinzgauer. Bought my first one last week and have been digging it so far! 1972 710M.
I have already been warned about wheeling it like a Jeep. I understand it is a completely different animal. Going to take it out tomorrow offroad for the first time up in Big Bear. I am in "listen and learn" mode.
Looking forward to meeting some memebers and seeing the vehicles.

I would post a pic- but havent figured that out yet-[/img]

$$$100,
Welcome to the board. You may catch a little ribbing about the jeep thing, but it will be all in fun!
Have fun with the new pinz. I am jealous that you are so close to Big Bear. It would be a nice weekend trip.
Feel free to ask all questions---the only dumb ones are the ones you don't ask about and then end up with a mess.
Main concern for a happy life with a pinz is to always, always, check the fluids in the tranny, diffs, and hubs. When these run out, you will not be happy with the repair bills! Ask me how I know!
Have fun and welcome.

Thanks for the welcome, John.
I figured some of you might get a kick out of the Jeep thing! I am in the perfect spot for offroading-- Big Bear, Calico, Rattlesnake, etc, etc. We even rented a house up in Lake Arrowhead and ran all the trails on that side of the mountain this last year (lease is up in July and not going to renew though).
Fluids check duly noted!
Ps- go ahead am start the ribbing- I CAN TAKE IT!

Welcome, I too came from the Jeep world. I built up a nice Rubicon and sold it a couple years ago. I love the Pinz! A little more preventative/upkeep maintenance, but I enjoy tinkering with it. With the independent axles the Pinzies do wheel alot different than the Jeep. I went with a 712 and it's totally different than the 710. I know my 712's abilities are way beyond what I am willing to push it to.
Enjoy!

Hmmmm...no guts, no glory. But no sheet metal damage or driveline components to fix either. I'll take the later option.

That's right Andy...I got too many engines to feed to spend $$$ to mend body and driveline parts.....including my own

These days feeding engines and buying original parts can get expensive real quick. I don't heal as quick as I used to either and I can't get any original parts at any price.

I've seen a few ladies with aftermarket parts that look real nice.

I'm not touching that line!

You can customize anything with enough money,

but the original parts, that fit perfectly, are hard to get a hold of. When you get 30 plus years of wear and tear on things then you have problems like axles breaking, limit straps failing.
