I've got the new bulbs plugged in to the dash blinker indicator light and still no light when I turn the blinkers on. The blinkers work outside the truck on all the corners and I can hear the relay ticking.

When I put a multimeter across two of the connectors to a bulb I get varying voltage readings but nothing close to 24 volts. Did I zap a relay (12) or are there maybe contacts fused someplace else? Could it be the blinker switch on the column? Help. Thanks.

A clicking relay is not a sure sign that the circuit is being completed, take readings right at the relay. The contacts could be misaligned or pitted. There may also be an open ground somewhere in the return path. Just a barstool mechanic's thoughts.

Pinzinztor, those thoughts are better than mine. I guess what I'm getting hung up on is that the blinkers outside the truck on all 4 corners work like they are supposed to. I'm just not getting the dash blinker light and I think the emergency brake is also in that circuit someplace because I don't get it either.

I'll keep putzing with it. Thanks for the fresh thoughts.

Andy I'm speaking from experience. The only way I got my dash indicator to work was to replace the flasher with a new electronic version. As for your emergency brake, I had to replace the switch in the rear to finally get that bulb to work. The replacement parts aren't expensive, at least not when I did it.

for lack of a better word, the relay is has sort of a "pendulum" switch in it, in one direction it closes the circuit to the exterior lights, and in the other , it closes the circuit to the dash indicator. that is why if someone watches the lights, they flash "out of sync".Just a bad contact inside the relay. iirc the new flasher tie them together and they flash in unisen.

On the emergency brake lamp, check the switch at the rear of the truck and make sure that it is working ( they fill with crap and go bad, also check the switch adjustment)

For what it's worth, I've had the electronic flasher for about a year. I'll recheck it and/or get a new one.

The emergency switch in the back could definitely be messed up. I'll get on that later.

I finally found the ground on the schematic for the dash lights. In case anyone wants to know it comes off the "emergency light control light", number 13 on the schematic, which I'm pretty sure is the blue light bulb all the way on the left of the dash lights. I took the bulb out of that one when I was just trying to replace bulbs and that might have opened the circuit. Lemme go play with it again. I appreciate the help.
