Can anyone advise whether UNPT threads are exactly the same as NPT Threads??

I have a pneumatic grease gun that I am trying to get a new hose for and the gun has 1/8" UNPT - 27 thread, but all of the hoses are labelled 1/8" NPT.

I assume that they are the same thing, as the "U" usually stands for "unified", but you'll save me a trip to the store if I have to return it!

The Unified National Series (UNS) is used to describe different types of threads. It places threaded fasteners into four categories, which are:

* Unified National Coarse (UNC or NC);

* Unified National Fine (UNF or NF);

* Unified National Extra-Fine (CH) (UNEF or NEF);

* Unified National Pipe Thread (UNPT or NPT).

Coarse bolts have the widest thread spacing, and extra-fine pitches describe fasteners with the narrowest thread spacing.
