Where I can I do my own work, but I'm no auto engineer so often I have to use a garage to carry out work, also things like oil changes which I would be able to do require handling lots of oil and dissposing of old oil so I use the garage for that too!

Gee Mark, seems I had to weld a muffler back on your truck  Oh yeah almost forgot I was the one who knocked it off

I work on mine when time permits. We are fortunate enough to have Tony available for repairs and tune ups when needed.

i was just wondering because one of my favorite parts about a pinz is that it was designed for easy fixing is this true?

Here in Wisconsin (Indian for "Land of No Pinzgauer"), I do my own repairs (with a fair amount of help from my friends, some German-car mechanics). I don't have the luxury of any Pinzgauer specialist nearby.

With the Repair Manual and the Parts Manual, you can do many/most repairs, in my opinion. I've had good success.

I'm getting there ever so slowly. Anything beyond changing fluids is a major achievement for me. I'll be ecstatic to be able to tune it and adjust valves. Once I'm there, 98% of the rest will have to be taken care of by someone competent.

Love it...........

It is fun to work on the Pinz . . . . . I have not had much to do since I have only put about 2000 miles in 4 years on it.....

It usually cost what is cost to fix it plus what I do to it. I am lucky I have a good mech. that will work for vodka.

I do some things: brakes, adjusting lights, balancing carbs, changing fluids, taking things apart and putting them back on. My Dad used to say "If people made it, people can fix it'.
I will have to say that sometimes diagnosing what exactly is wrong is a real problem for me. Like now, I have an issue with a vacuum leak that makes the revs go up and for the life of me I don't know where to start to look for the place it might be. I am leaving for NWMF tomorrow so someone there may be able to put me on the right track.
I really don't have the place to do all the work I would like. The drive slopes and the pinz won't fit into the garage.
I want to have the 2.2 L engine converted to 2.7 L and I will pick up the parts from Scott (EI) at NWMF. I am hoping to get Jim L. to do that for me.

I do routine stuff - fluids, valves, timing, points and brakes etc. plus odd mechanical things as and when needed e.g. hub seals. I wouldn't sweat too much about replacing a clutch but I wouldn't want to delve into a gearbox or the interior parts of the transmission.
