eberspacher heater

Well finally got my B3LC eberspacher I got from Vince hooked up and running yesterday, since it is the newer type this question goes out to those who have them, or those who install them (ie: Denis at Linden), when I ran the heater this morning when it was cool enough to have the unit call for more heat I experianced a fine smoke comming from the blower hose, is this because of a protective coating applied at assembly, and it will burn off and stop smoking after a few times of use at a higher heat?
Also even though it was only about 60 degrees when I ran it this morning I was a bit concerned about how hot the hose got, (paper hose that came with unit) I do have extra SCAT hose from aircraft spruce that I used on the heat exchanger system, when I replaced the fron hose earlier this year, it is rated for something like 375 degrees I think, I still have not decided how I will finally plumb the heating system yet, go to the stock location in the rear bed or try to make something of my own design, any thought would be appreciated.
