Losing a wheel on a 712

When I picked up my 712, I noticed this on the driver's side:
I asked and was told that the 712 may have lost a wheel while traveling. Today I noticed this:
So I get the impression that it is a good idea to keep those lug nuts tight! This incident must have cost at least a brake drum, and perhaps internal damages. I have not looked inside yet.
