I for one have a Swiss 712 Amb., with nor rust problems whatsoever.

Swiss. My upper doors halves have a bit of rust, but only a couple pin holes I am in the process of repairing. Both rear body panels had small areas of rust through, so I bought NOS ones from SAV. No rust anywhere on the body itself, so I am assuming it was replaced sometime in the 80's.

I have looked at a lot of Pinz's lately and I can't honestly say one is better than another with regards to rust. The Swiss vehicles appear to be better maintained but the rust issues appear to be equal measures of Swiss and Austrian LARGE hole cheese!!!! I would love to get my hands on some more of those NOS stock bodies. Someone please import some more!! Hint, hint, hint, Swiss Army and EI . . . . . . . .

Swiss 710M Radio truck with out any rust issues either- knock on wood! I've only seen Swiss ones around here.

MY 1973 710M SWISS RADIO HAS ONLY SUPERFICIAL RUST ON THE BOTTOM DOOR TOPS. I KINDA LIKE IT. WHOLE BODY SEEMS VERY UNABUSED BY PPL OR NATURE, EXCEPT FOR THE LEATHER TABS ON THE FRONT TOP - THEY BECAME TORTILLA CHIPS. HAD TO REPLACE TOP.

1972 Swiss Army 710M with rust issues (mainly the floor of the rear cargo area), mostly cured now.

I have a 1974, 712m, Swiss... No body rust, some minor underside bracket rust
(like the shovel mounting) and a little cargo area floor surface rust from stuff rubbing the paint off.

Good idea! But will have to start a new thread, can´t add a poll once a thread is going...

Swiss 712W, great condtion, body replaced in 1991.
Swiss 710M, body good condtion (but replaced canvas); body replaced in 1990.

I've been told that the Swiss stamped the year of the body replacement (if it happened) in the floor pan, under the drivers seat, very near the dog house hole (just about over the heater hoses). In both of my cases, the stamps were about 3/8" tall, two digits, and then painted over which makes them not very visible.

Because of the replacement bodies, both of mine were in very good condition (doors show more signs of age, but still not much rust at all).

Breakers= Swiss, Fuses =Austrian, also Austrian have split windshields

Had a Swiss 710m and a Swiss 710k. Very little rust, easy to cure on the 'm; no rust at all on the 'k.
Now have a Swedish 716k (civilian, formerly owned by an electric company). Rust creepeing under the paint, I recently had the lover 10 cm of the doors and the left side under the air intake redone, followed by a full respray ... and a painful bill too!

It looks like I am the only one - so far - driving an Austrian Pinz, but then again I live in Holland / Europe.

Bought mine from CAMO / Austria and got an excellent deal; no rust, repainted, new factory refurbished engine + carbs + startmotor just top-notch. Had to properly run the motor in for 3000 km 's...

The Swiss army basically sold all their Pinzes, but the Austrian Army refurbished all their Pinzes between 1995 - 2000 at the Pinz factory.(after first selling off the real bad ones - which gave them a bad name)

So they're driving them for the next few years and a new supply might be coming on the market after a few years. Have a look at CAMO's; he sold some real good ones, but almost out now + price going up...

'74 710M - clean, almost no rust, constantly fouls plugs
'74 710M - rust on body throughout, mechanically perfect
