710 VS 712 Valuations - what has been your experience?

So my 710 is sold and I'm taking delivery of the 712 shortly. Everyone says I got a killer deal on the while one and the guy who got mine certainly got himself a smokin' deal.
I'm curious if there is a growing price differential between the 710 and the 712 models? Will 712s become so much more desirable that their values will hold up better compared to a 710?
I don't have any second thoughts about my decision, I'm just curious about what others have seen in the market place or are the current challenging economic times not representative of the "normal" market for these vehicles?
Thoughts?

I can not beleive you sold your PINZ!!! I agree, it was an excelent deal for the person who got it. Very lucky indeed.
Regarding the value.... It depends on the market and desire. I have seen the preference of people to have a 712 instead of the 710 and also for that reason people to pay more for the 712's.
For some reason it is more appealing to the eye.
But without a doubt, prices are going down due to the economics. Only time will tell but IMHO 712's will always have a better retail value than the 710's.

How lucky you are to have so many vehicles changing hands that you can make comparisons. Here in UK the Pinz is such a different vehicle that owning one is never a choice made for financial reasons ie: that,s such a good deal I can,t afford to miss it. Just the transmission scares people, it is so unlike anything that has ever gone before (except for that small band of Haf enthusiasts) Many people still shy away from air cooled as at best an anomaly (back in the 80,s some people thought I was crazy to run a truck (that,s big truck 24 Tons) with a Deutz aircooled Diesel and that was a mainstream FORD UK truck. I guess people are just so conventional they can,t see that the odd things are what make the vehicle so exceptional. So here I have been following the prices of any Pinz that is advertised and I can only take into account what they say (excellent condition - may mean falling apart and completely worn out - it,s all relative you see - how do you compare when there are so few of them) I think I got a good deal, simply on condition of the vehicle, I hope the seller (being a business) made a profit that felt right and enabled them to keep on trading, but buying a Pinz here is unlike buying any other vehicle. Normally if you want something that does what the Pinz does (within a particular size envelope - fits on a driveway or in a garage) you start with something like a Landrover then spend a lot of money fitting a different engine/trans, portal axles from a Volvo C303. Buying here has nothing to do with money it defines WHO YOU ARE, I do not think I have met anyone else in my life who would buy a Pinz or if they wanted to could justify it to their wife/partner.

As an afterthought, the Pinz has been around since the early 70,s but was not released from service until much later, anyone care to note the vehicles that are now in service with various military,s around the world, that they would like to get their hands on one day when they are finally released. (I know, I know the latest Pinzgauers....but you see...the pinzmeister already has one, so it has started....likewise with Landrover 'Wolf' a few are trickling out into civilian life, have any of the special 'Rangers' Landrover weapons platforms (MRCV) been released in America?

In the past 2 years, 710M values have droppped like stones. I regularly see them on Craigslist or ebay for less than $10K. However, 712M values are still climbing; although they aren't quite as high as they were 2 years ago, a 712 is still a much rarer commodity in the US than a 710 and are priced appropriately.

Gotta agree with Pinzwheeling. I've watched prices for 710s drop a lot since I started looking. With the depressed prices there is no way I could come close to what I have in my 710 and it is basically stock, with the exception of the CWR seats, wheels, and Petronix.
On the other hand, 712 prices have come down only a little, unless it's a tricked out one. Todds712 is selling his and I couldn't believe it, because if you go back through the threads, he's devoted quite a bit of time and money into getting it to where it is. Much of it is probably the economy.
The upside is that there are still folks buying them. Lord only knows what will happen to the Pinz market if Cap and Trade goes through or more states start acting like Wisconsin.
