Hey all,
I was wondering if anyone in this group had purchased a pinz from Karl Portmann at Pinzgauer Canada.
Thanks,
Donald

I bought mine from Karl a couple of years ago.
Great guy! I have also spoken with several people who bought their trucks from him (Mog, Pinz and Steyr 680's)
Are you going to buy from there?

Good to hear, I am just starting discussions with Karl. I have my eyes on a 712AMB-S for use as an expedition camper.
What was the quality of vehicle as delivered?
The other option is Outback Pinzgauer...but being on the east coast, I like the Montreal option better...easier to pick up the vehicle.
Hope to hear more.

Good news. I have spoken and emailed Karl about his 710M's. He has sent me photos and they look good. I live in Washington State and its not practical for me to go out for a test drive before the purchase.
Thanks,
Donald

He is a gentleman.
You may find that he can 'piggy-back' your 712 onto a car-carrier for Halifax. Not so sure about Washington State! He was able to do that for my delivery to east of Toronto and it was only a couple of hundred bucks.
All of the trucks seemed to be in good mechanical shape. I drove out to Montreal and picked one from the bunch though.

When the time comes, I intend to treat this like all vehicle purchases. Go to the lot, test drive, pick the unit I like, have him prep it and then take a drive home...becoming familiar with the new toy.

I just checked and Air Canada flies nonstop into Toronto from Seattle and it’s not too expensive. When I hear more from Karl, I’ll fly up and look at those 710Ks.
Thanks,
Donald

From Toronto, it is a five hour road trip to Montreal. You might want to consider flying into Montreal (Pierre Elliot Trudeau Airport). Save all your energy for the enjoyable ride back.

Thank you Randy, I don't know why I thought Karl was in Toronto.

Looking forward to hearing how things go with Karl. It will help me decide on what dealer to go with (local importer with no local support, Pinzgauer Canada or Outback Imports) when I do the dirty deed next year. Keep us up to date.

I have put my money where my mouth is...I have put a deposit down on a 1982 712 AMB-S from Karl at Pinzgauer Canada and will pick the truck up in a couple of months.
Karl is a pleasure to deal with, very knowledgeable, helpful and pleasant.
I can't wait to get behind the wheel.

Just bought my 72 710M from Karl. Great communication and the truck was not a dissapointment. He shipped it out to me for less than I could get it done for......
Great guy!
