I'm caught without my manuals...

Edit: My manual LACKS that page!!! WTF?

The bulb is shown on Illustration Page 56 as Figure 20. This part number would be listed on page 56/1 (the page I'm missing).

Can anybody supply me with the part number for the light bulbs which fit the rear license plate lamps?

Or perhaps a substitute bulb to fit? The 9mm dia. base is smaller than anything I've found a cross to locally.

My book doesn't give a part number, just says number plate bulb 2 EA 24V 2W. Not much help but I'll look in another place.

Ah Ha...found it in my parts book.
Group 9 80 page 56 902.0759 bulb.
The german is Ersatz fur 902.0758. Why they are different is anybody's guess.

I am still looking for the nuts for the wiper insert. I replaced mine and kept the shaft through the wind screen, I keep all that crap that breaks and put it in a box. Can't find the box.

Well, well, well. Neither SAV or EI shows those numbers as available.

I guess I'll have to keep digging.

(If you wouldn't mind scanning that page and emailing it to me, I could add it to my manual. Must have gotten a misprint.)

Regarding the wiper nuts, I got some from Mouser.com for electrical uses. They are thin, but seem to grab OK. If you ever do find yours, let me know, as I'd prefer the originals. Otherwise, good enough.

The bulbs in mine are listed as BA 9s bayonet type bulbs at 2 watts. I think these are the same bulbs as used in the dash indicator strip.

However, there were apparently 2 types of license plate lights. One used the above bayonet style bulbs and the other used tubular bulbs with contacts on each end.

If you have the bayonet style they are SAV3508.

I'm using a 2W, US #1818, fairly common to find.

A little longer than the metric one but fits fine.

It might be ideal to replace these (and most) of your bulbs with LED's. An amazing array of bulbs can be crossed over these days. I just replaced the int. lamp bulbs in my old MB car with LED's and they are just as bright as the stock ones, although if I left them on all night by accident the car would still start in the morning (and they will last much longer than stock)

Maybe someone has done this already for all the Pinz bulbs and has #'s?

These arrived today. They DO NOT fit in the bayonette-base type fixture. They are approximately 1/8" too long to allow the cover to seat.

I'm going to see whether they might fit into the dash, as I've been told they were the same bulb. Otherwise, I've got some surplus bulbs for sale.

you can grind quite a bit off the end of the led type bulb to get it to fit. there is a post somewhere in this forum that has pics of the led bulbs ground down and polished...i replaced allo my indicator bulbs with shortened(ground down) led's and they work fine

Just put these LED lights in my license plate sockets:

Required no grinding or modification to fit, and 4x brighter than the single LED white that we modified to fit in the dash.

My plate is now as bright if not brighter than the current tail light, almost as bright as the brake light/turn sigal (DOT Grote "jeep" style tail light with standard 24v bulbs).

They will really light up your plate if you want to be seen from behind at night!
