What is the best method for repairing a small pin hole in my top?

I discovered it in our torrential downpours we've been having in WA!

I get a nice drip right over the drivers seat!

I haven't tried this yet, but I found a Swiss Army rucksack that is made of the same material as the top and figured I could cut it into a number of patches and contact cement them if needed. If the holes are really pinholes, then I bet a clear tent patch or silicone sealant would work better and be less visible.

I bought some military-spec rubber sheets on Ebay, cut small squares, and used Gorilla Glue to cement them. I had some big holes, and areas where the top frame had almost worn through the top, though.

You haven’t indicated what the roof is made of; your signature makes no mention what your top is on. 710? 712? K? M? I know I’m nitpicking however knowing if its canvas or steel could make a difference.

I've got a 712 - Canvas roof - I was just looking for a proven method for a small patch.

I'm going to go with a small silicone patch and see what happens. I just didn't want it to be UGLY.

I am going to test filling in the pin hole with some sort of silicone and see how that holds up to the rain in Washington.

I bought part of a US military "deuce and a half" vinyl top and cut small patches with rounded corners out of it which I glue in place with HH-66 vinyl cement from the inside of the Pinz top. From the outside you can't even tell it had a hole and was patched. I learned this method from the canvas repair person who I had hired to replace all my windows and modify my top.

Do you just put it in place or do you have to clamp it with pressure to get it to adhere?

Doesn't look like it. Vinyl requires 24 hours to cure though. The reviews on Cabela's are really good.

For pinholes, the most unsightly repair is just a dab of automotive GOOP. That's what I used, works great, no show.

With the HH-66, you MUST use pressure for a few minutes... and a majority of the holding force in in that time. The same method is use to make replacement straps for the top. Laminate 3 to 4 layers of the material together and cut into strips.... instant straps.
