Yesterday just tooling around in the woods I noticed shifter getting sloppy then had hard time getting 1st and 3rd...then lost all gears..felt like the shifter was connected to nothing and was hoping that the linkage was disconnected. After removing access panel saw all was properly connected moved the shift tower manually but still nothing..then disconnected the shift tower from shift rod..we moved it manually and eventually got first gear and was able to get it home...havent looked at it yet as it was dark out but figured I would post it for some ideas!!!

Pull the shift tower off and see if the roll pin moved or broke.

Thanks Jim, soon as I read your reply I thought yeah "that makes total sense" a roll pin bending and breaking would fit the scenario and the events leading up to the failure. I will post my findings this weekend :)
