Well here is a pic of the tank I got from Cabelas...she's 50 gallons and it will fit perfectly between the support braces in my K for the shelves in the back...I need to add about a 4" piece to the height and a bar across the middle to support the tank.

So today my original is getting welded back together and I will start on this one.

CONCERNS: any help would be appreciated here.

1 - Venting and filler to go on the back end or side? I was thinking the back end for filler - side for vent (less fumes).

2 - Static collector: - do I ground before the shut off switch or after.

3 - should I mount it on rubber?

So she is in and all I have left is to run the fuel line and put the three way fuel rod in.

Should have her completed next week sometime.

Here are a few pics

Had to raise the brackets about 2" to clear the tank so I can mount the shelves back on later.



I ran some perforated angle for support for the sides and the bottom. I put a 3/4" piece pf plywood and put some rubber on it. I also put some rubber on the upper bracket to avoid rubbing.



I ran some perforated strapping (plumbing kind) over the top and underneath to hold her in place....also some of the angle on both ends and added some padding so she can't slide anywhere.



This is how she looks from outside and a close up.





I will take some close up pics of the hoses and the wiring tomorrow ok.

looks really good- where you headed with that much gas, Jer?

Well up here you can be along way from a gas station and hunting you use LOTS.

How'd you mount the feet of those Thules to the Pinz roof?

I took the rail that they slide in and I siliconed and bolted it through the roof in six places each side. On my old subaru they used rivets - but I thought the bolts would work for this app.

Yeah should be able too put about 400 pounds if we go easy on the road....

because the rack is there I can put some in and some around it and spread out the weight a bit...always room inside in a tarp too.

What did you use for the through-body fuel inlet? Does the cover remove, or pop in?

Nice rack setup Jer. The Thule Tracker rail system is a great option for the Pinz and is much cleaner IMO than a gutter-mount tower install. My recommendation for others looking to do this type of install on a K is to mount the rails as far outward as possible (I mounted mine a rail-width out from the outermost roof rib) in order to gain the greatest support from the walls of the Pinz. It's also worth noting that the 54" Thule rail can be fitted to straddle the rear and center support members of the body increasing the load capacity even further.
