Annealing Copper Rings.

Quite often there is reference to annealing the copper rings/seals on gearbox, hubs etc.

Just how much heat do you apply to these rings to "anneal" them ? I'm thinking of putting them on a ring of the electric cooker. A black, solid cast disc ring, not a radiant ring type. Fizzing hot, just short of cherry red or what ???

I hate throwing something away that can be reused. (Read "Tightwad") !!

If you google "annealing copper" you will come up with a bunch of videos that go through the process....I think "dull red" was what you went for.

I have several that I got at Napa.
I rotate mine and simply throw a few in the bottom of the oven, as things get baked, by and by, the things get annealed and ready for the next use. It's really not complicated.
