I can work around the 12v/24v issues, but I would like to install an audible back up sensor on the 712. I'm more of an urban guy and backing out of parking spaces can get closer than im comfortable with. I'd like the added piece of mind of a sonic sensor.

I installed a 24V to 12 V convertor and ran my back-up sensor from that (around $60). Had a small screen: 2 x 2 inch, showing how much space was left (no camera, just lines showing) and auditive warning.
Great fun when you were at a traffic-light and saw the car behind you 'approach' the Pinz.

Worked a charm for the first few hours, but it was not set up be run continuous. . Was also dead accurate, but after a few hours complete erratic readings. Called the supplier, who said they were not designed to run continuously.
So I had to re-install it, but now running on the reverse-lights. When they come on, they supply 24 V and convert that down to 12 V.
