Servicing clutch release bearing

Seeing as the release bearings are Pinz-specific and thus ****ing expensive, I'm inclined to re-use mine as it's turning freely and seems like it's in reasonable nick. However, it's got a fair amount of crud on it so I'd like to give it a good clean - thinking about soaking in kerosene and then regreasing (will normal UJ-style grease be appropriate?)

I'm probably wrong, but I thought that was a sealed unit and not servicable.

I also cleaned mine (no solvent) and packed new lube in as best as I could. Used Brake caliper grease for the temperature. If the part was $35 I'd change it, but for $200 I'll pull the tranny again when (if) the squealing starts.

This squealing noise you speak of is it a loud noise or low noise?
