Out of curiosity, what size are your tires?

Thanks, the angled windows took some time to grow on me but as time goes by I am liking them more and more

The tires on my 712 are 285 75R Mickey Thompson MTZ's on the 8" widened steel rims. I ran the Interco Trxxs for a long time and would prefer them but they are difficult to find at times in that size. I will say that after 7 years of some decent offroading and over 45K miles I have seen none of the ill effects that so many warned me about with the widened rims and larger tires. Still going strong with the same hub seals, bearings, shafts ....etc that came with the truck. I tried them on my 710 for fun but they are way too much tire for the 4X IMHO, so I run the Mickey Thompson MTZ's in 265 75R on stock rims on it.

The top I made back in feb of '05 at that time it had soft sides.

I used 1" sq tubing for the main runners between the roll bars and mid support. I used 3/4 sq tubing formed to match the roof curve. I chose to use 3 bars for each section of the top for added strength. All the tubing was 16ga. The roof is lined with 30ga aluminum on the top and inside. the corners have 16ga sheet steel 6" in both directions under the top layer for added strength when those pesky branches are rubbing against the top. There is foam insulation in between the inner and outer layers to control the temperature.

Now fast forward to current and I just added the side panels. I chose to use operable windows for control of air circulation when driving and sleeping. The front two panels can be opened and kept open at different location with the use of the supports from the windshields of the US "M" series trucks. The latches are the lockable type found on many truck toppers and are all keyed alike. The rear door I fabricated the top for using the design of a K series door top.

I had the glass cut at a local shop that builds my windshields for the pinzies. The side windows are from '84 to '89 toyota 4runner rear tops, thank goodness for those toyota rock buggies makes these windows easy to find and cheap. The sides are insulated with 3/4 foam insulation as are the original side panels of the pinz. I still prefer the horse mat on the floor to spray on liners. The curtains are made from a material called of all things "blackout cloth". I fabbed up the curtain rods from 5/8 thin wall tubing. The chuck box was made from 7 layer plywood which is laminated on the inside for ease of cleaning. The plastic drawers are from medical transport box inserts. I had to cut off the top few bins as they were small and did not think they would serve much purpose.

A bit of work but hopefully it will make trail camping more enjoyable.

nice job i like it . i have been planning on making a hard top for mine for awhile the soft top is in bad shape.

the top is quit easy. take a look at the roll bar corners. SDP did not over complicate the corner design which I copied for all the bows. As I said I put an extra on in to help support the lighter metal and give me more places to hold the roof rack. In this photo you can see that I have 3 bows between each support and if you look at the corners you can see the added material to beef up the "rolled" edge of the roof. As this roll is so tight and the distance so long copying it was not an option. I chose to bend the metal at 1/4" intervals to achieve the proper "roll" effect. This also made the roll stronger than simply rolling the material.

Nice job, but you better put some foam padding on the roof, right above where your head is, or you'll knock yourself out getting up abruptly.

I still really like that rear tire rack. How's it holding up? Any sag at the pivot?

Got a better picture of the stuff mounted on the nose?

rear bumper is holding up fine. The swing hinge is one that is used on a lot of tire carriers (shaft with wheel bearings).

If by the nose you mean the front bumper, yeah I have a picture. This is one of Tim's front bumpers. Very solid 5X2 1/4 wall tube with 1/2 bull bars and schedule 40 upper pipe. I have put these to the test on both my 710 and 712 and they are holding up great.

602 718 0052 and yes he is still making them. In the classified section of the SWPA www.swpinzgauer.org website is some of the stuff he makes. I have "tested" all of his armor/accessories out from front to back an it holds up great.

I like the added anti-theft incentive (gun case on the floor...)!

I second Mike's endorsement of Tim's products; first rate, heavy duty, reasonable. I have his side protection bars, battery box protection and rear bumper-tire carrier and couldn't be happier with these. Tim is a great guy and Pinze owner as well.
