My next quick fix I hope? The rear locker has a small leak at the elbow right behind the center console. I have the elbow on order. Now the question is can I just remove the old and replace it with the new. My thought is if I am quick enough the level of fluid in the reservoir will not change by much. Will there be any problem with the small amount of air that gets into the system? If I do need to bleed the system where exactly do I find the other end. Thanks

would be a good idea to change all those fittings at once. They are not very expensive and more than likely you are going to break another one trying to install the elbow. As the reservoir is higher than the master you will not get any air into the system if you are patient. On the other hand now would be a good chance to flush the fluids in the locker assembly.

When re-painting my truck I noticed the fittings were cracked and decided to fix in the shop instead of waiting for a trail surprise. The crimping rings can be pulled off easily, but I re-used them and it took some fooling around and patience to get all the pieces back together. You could always use hose clamps.

Most importantly the previous post is correct in that you are likely to break one of the other fittings while playing with this one. The job is a bit messy and takes some patience. Do it all at once and forget about it for 10 more years.

Suck the reservoir dry using a turkey baster or such and get it as dry as possible with paper towels or such. Use oven foil to form a catch tray under the locker master cylinders to catch any residual fluid when changing the elbows to keep that nasty fluid away from the pretty paint.

Thanks guys for the information. I love the simplicity of this vehicle. Where I am running into trouble is trying to coordinate having the correct parts on hand for when I do the job. I placed an order with SAV for the elbow($6 a piece). My guess is these parts are not unique to the Pinzgauer. Am I the only one ordering these parts from the Pinzgauer Supplier. Can I get the T and other elbow at a Napa? It's not the $6 I am concerned with it is the $10 in shipping and the 7 day waiting time for it to arrive. Yes, I could order a whole lot of parts, but I do not want to house them if I am not going to use them. Thoughts? Also could someone point me in the right direction as to where the bleeder valves are on the 4x4, front and rear locker. Thanks

The elbows and tee are unique to the Pinz(and brake fluid compatible).
Make sure you also have the metal rings(7 7101282331) fuel clamps are a poor substitute and they damage the rubber .
Put the metal rings on before assembling the elbows and tee to the pipes
Doing the job right the first time, means more time to go wheelin

Ed -- Thanks for the chat on the phone. I now know that I am missing a manual. Hopefully getting the Operators manual will leave me looking a little less stumped.

Jim -- I will be ordering the other parts on Monday. Thanks for the part number on the metal rings. Yes, the previous owners hose clamps caused the damage to the rubber.

...just a thought. Might be a good idea to have a couple of the bleeder nipples on hand.
I have a propensity to break things and those little things fill with debris and might be a bit
fragile. You might no be so unlucky in the breaking things department, and that is a good thing.

Might be a good idea to bleed the lines, since it looks as if the cracked fittings might have allowed
air or contamination to enter the lines. I did this recently and there was a lot of stuff in the fluid.
Took several flushings to get clear fluid at the bleeder end.

i just ordered the elbows and the "t's" and clamps for my project , the original clamps are crimped a little bit how do you do that correctly or do you just slide them on and thats it ?? ?

The clamps just slide onto the rubber, then assemble to pipes and masters.
